The FETCH Approach is an incubated project within DGMT. The FETCH Approach unlocks the potential of young people and their communities to fetch a future they aspire to. Rooted in the Basic Package of Support (BPS)—a collaborative programme led by with the University of Cape Town and the University of Johannesburg— the FETCH Approach builds on a proven model of connecting youth to opportunities for learning, earning, and personal growth.

Through coaching and service-strengthening initiatives, The FETCH Approach partners with civil society to create lasting impact. The name reflects its mission: to Facilitate, Empower, Transform, Connect, and bring Hope—helping young people take charge of their paths to success.

To realise our mission, we are looking to employ a facilitator to deliver effective training and quality assurance to all FETCH Approach sites. 

We are looking for a passionate, ambitious and proactive person with strong training and facilitation experience.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of training materials, tools and processes.
  • Update all training tools as we are learning and developing.
  • Facilitate Role Connect sessions to drive cross-site learning.
  • Undertake regular reporting on performance against stated milestones and goals.
  • Provide feedback on training during in debriefing sessions with the L&D Manager to ensure ongoing learning.
  • Facilitate quality training across sites, with an initial focus on Youth Ignitors.
  • Facilitate Rest Camps across FETCH sites as part of FETCH’s quality assurance process.
  • Provide feedback on Rest Camps during in debriefing sessions with the L&D Manager to ensure ongoing learning.
Qualification
  • A Diploma or undergraduate degree in the social sciences.
  • Any qualifications in training or facilitation methodolgies would be advantageous.
  • Any Coaching qualifications would be advantageous (i.e. Life coaching, Wellness Coaching or Leadership Coaching).
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the youth development sector.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in training or facilitation.
  • Excellent computer skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to engage with a wide-range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage self in a complex and dynamic work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and meticulous in planning and executing on all functions.
  • Proactive and goal-oriented.
  • Confident, and able to share ideas.
  • Able to coordinate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal.
  • Able to anticipate key needs and act independently to solve problems.
  • High degree of flexibility and responsiveness to evolving needs.
  • Innovative and dynamic thinker.
